Summary of Quanta Cura

1.0        INTRODUCTION Being taught a great lesson by the Italian Liberals using their superior military strength, Pope Pius IX (Pio Nono) turned to his spiritual weapons with the promulgation of Quanta Cura and Syllables of error on the 8 th day of December, 1864. With this, he condemned the whole ideology of liberalism found in his own age. He effectively squelched the liberal Catholics and hardened the Church in its long-standing state of siege with regards to modern liberal secular culture. This important papal document was sent to all the bishops of the Catholic world “in order that these same bishops may have before their eyes all the errors and pernicious doctrines which he [Pius IX] has reprobated and condemned.”

SUMMARY OF NO 1 OF UNITATIS REDINTEGRATIO

INTRODUCTION The 1993 directory for ecumenism reiterated the first sentence of Unitatis Redintegratio promulgated on 21 st November, 1964 with its own words although with similar content, “the search for Christian unity was one of the principal concerns of the Second Vatican Council”. The introductory part of this document gave a general reflection into the oneness of Christ’s instituted Church. It exposes also on how many Christian communions cause division posing as Christ true inheritors . Through the prayer of our Lord of Age , men are called to ultimate contrition, thus searching for unity. There was recognition of the effort of our separated to seek for unity in many conferences. Having said these, I will further go in depth in explicating more about the No. 1 of this document in the form of summary, thus applying the meaning to my intimate environmental cases found in my town.

DISTINCTION BETWEEN SOUL, MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT

1.0        INTRODUCTION The concepts under analysis, mind, body, soul and spirit are properties of man. The composite relationships between these properties make up an integral person. Accordingly, man (human person), for Christians, “is not just physical or temporal creature. Man is a spiritual creature with immortal destiny.” [1] The human person is a body-soul unity redeemed in Christ and called to live both in time and eternity. [2] It is at this point that I wish to begin the task of this work, to distinguish between mind, body, soul and spirit. To successfully accomplish this, brief definitions are necessary to understand these concepts. This work would be approached from theological, and philosophical points of view, but not neglecting psychological and anthropological perspectives. It is worthy of note that my discussion here centers on man.

HOW 1 SAMUEL 21: 6-7 IS USED IN MATTHEW 12: 3-4

INTRODUCTION Amidst all other exegetical implications surrounding the book of Samuel, it has essentially the historical character of Israel’s monarchical system. Given from New Jerome’s Commentary, the text of 1 Samuel 21 constitutes a part in the beginning of the Kingdom in the land of Israel, an open rupture and desire of Saul in killing David. The action of David and his companions in 1 Samuel 21: 6-7 was referred to by Jesus in Matthew 12: 3-4 in explaining the implications of the law of Sabbath. This work is aimed to see how 1 Samuel 21: 6-7 was used in Matthew 12:3-4.
